I recently watched the MrBeast Jet video, which featured a jet, obviously. As a pilot, I couldn’t hold myself from not identifying the plane. I want to see where the winner, Harry “Wroetoshaw”, was flying to!
Scroll all the way down for my YouTube Video on this topic.
MrBeast Jet Video Context:
For those who didn’t watch the MrBeast Jet video, here is a quick summary. MrBeast published a challenge where he brought a bunch of famous YouTubers and told them that the last person to take his hand off the private jet would keep it!
The challenge went on for hours, and the final winner was the YouTuber Harry who goes by the name of Wroetoshaw or W2S.
Identifying the plane:
After watching the MrBeast video, my instinct as a pilot kicked in, and it’s to always look at the registration number of the aeroplanes purely out of curiosity. However, I noticed one thing. The registration number was blurred for the whole video, which makes sense as MrBeast doesn’t want people to track the winner of the challenge, Especially since they are all famous YouTubers.
I honestly didn’t care much at the beginning, but after a few days, I had some free time, so I said why not try to identify the plane just as a little game for me And see where Harry is travelling to?
First Steps:
At first, I was hesitant to look for the MrBeast Private jet, as I thought MrBeast might have bought the jet years before, and now he is giving it away, which would make it harder to determine the actual owner.
But I would imagine that this wouldn’t be a wise financial move by MrBeast, who doesn’t prefer a materialistic life and re-invests everything back to his channel, as he mentioned several times before.
So I started my search on the premise that the aircraft featured in the MrBeast Jet video was leased from an existing charter company.
The issue was that I’m not that good at identifying private jets compared to airliners. Hence, I started playing the elimination game, and to help me do this, there were two pieces of information that MrBeast gave away.
The Clues from the MrBeast Jet Video:
- MrBeast mentioned that the private jet seats eight passengers.
- This would mean that we are looking at light or medium jets.
- On the MrBeast Jet video at 4:22. The UK CAA Logo appeared.
- This would mean we are looking for a UK Charter company, to be specific.
I went to the UK CAA website, and I checked their list of companies that hold Type B Operating Licences.
The following companies hold Type B Operating Licences – that is, they are permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with fewer than 20 seats and/or weighing less than 10 tonnes.
However, the issue was that were 73 companies to check. The initial plan was to check the fleet of most of them after eliminating the obvious ones like “Cardinal Helicopter Services Limited”, which is clearly a helicopter company or “IAS Medical Limited”, which is an ambulance service.
Despite all that, even after eliminating a few companies, you would still end up with a big list, it would be a massive headache to check all of them, and I’m honestly not paid enough to do all of this work.
The search for additional clues:
But my curiosity was killing me to know at this point, so I re-watched the MrBeast video once more, looking for any more hints.
When I re-watched the MrBeast Jet Video, I heard LazarBeam mention the name of the airport after MrBeast took the YouTubers on a lap with the jet. The airport mentioned is “Southend Airport“.
Final Steps:
I started checking the history of aeroplane movements at Southend airport on Radarbox. I knew that because the video was filmed in the UK, surely it was around the time of the Sidemen charity match on 24 September.
So the MrBeast video was either filmed before or after, which means I’m looking at the period of roughly between 20th – 30th Sept.
I checked all the arrivals in this period, and on the 23rd, I noticed a private jet arriving at Southend airport from Farnborough. The private jet is owned by Voluxis UK, a charter company under the registration G-IMGP.
I checked the company’s website looking for pictures and double-checked those pictures with aeroplane-spotting websites.
And little do you know. It was the exact private jet we were after.
Looking For More Proof:
At this point, I was convinced that the private jet was the one, but I wanted to look for more proof. I was looking to see the lap they did on the video so I could confirm without a doubt that it was the Jet I was looking for.
I checked the flight history of the Jet on flightradar24, looking to find a short flight From Southend Airport to Southend Airport on the 23rd of September, but I initially managed to find the same one as before, from Farnborough to Southend.
However, there was something that caught my eye. The MrBeast Private Jet remained in Southend airport for two days, and on the 25th, there was a scheduled flight from Southend airport to Guernsey, but it showed that the Private Jet diverted back to Southend (SEN).
I replayed the flight, and guess what? It was the circle we are looking for!
I can say without a shred of doubt that the private jet with the registration number: G-IMGP was the airplane featured in the MrBeast video.
Does Harry Wroetoshaw own a private jet?
Looking at the flight history of the same plane, we can see that it resumed normal operation two days after the MrBeast Private Jet video shoot.
It’s very clear that the private jet is still being used as a charter plane as it’s flying almost every day, and it’s still listed on the Voluxis website as part of their fleet.
I wanted to take this a step further and contacted Voluxis, the company asking them about this. However, they still haven’t replied.
Is MrBeast Fake? Are MrBeast Videos Fake?
I know that people might be disappointed in MrBeast that he didn’t do what he promised and might start to doubt his videos.
And as he got a lot of haters already, some might start using this video to bash MrBeast or to expose him. So let me share what I think happened.
A Quick Disclaimer:
MrBeast is a very successful and famous YouTuber that has been going for years. He featured many people in his videos, and I’m not aware that someone came out before and talked about him faking challenges or prizes.
When we look at some of his videos, we can see that he spent a massive amount of money on producing some of them. So it wouldn’t be plausible for me to jump right into saying that MrBeast is fake or the private jet video is.
Now that we got the disclaimer out of the way. Let’s talk about what I think has happened.
Five Possibilities:
- MrBeast wanted to shoot a fun video with his fellow YouTubers to maintain a positive cash flow.
- An agreement was established between Harry and Voluxis, the company.
- Harry owns the private jet, but it’s managed by the charter company.
- MrBeast gave harry money instead of the plane and sold the jet back to the company.
- Mrbeast rented the jet, knowing no YouTuber would prefer to own it. After the challenge ended, he gave the money to Harry and gave the jet back.
1. MrBeast wanted to shoot a fun video with his fellow YouTubers to maintain a positive cash flow:
MrBeast mentioned on a podcast before that he operates on razor-thin margins, and he even sometimes loses money on some of his videos. So it would be understandable that you would bring your YouTube friends that understand your business model to help you shoot this video.
The Youtubers would make it more entertaining. This way, MrBeast can have a “pause” on spending a ridiculous amount of money. While keeping his channel on the same path.
2. An agreement was established between Harry and Voluxis, the company:
An agreement was established between Harry and Voluxis, the company; to transition the ownership of the jet slowly over time. This explains why they still own it.
3. Harry owns the private jet, but it’s managed by the charter company.
And this is a service they actually offer. At least the jet would make money instead of keeping it on the ground.
4. MrBeast gave harry money instead of the plane and sold the jet back to the company.
I personally don’t think that it would be true.
5. Mrbeast rented the jet, knowing no YouTuber would prefer to own it. After the challenge ended, he gave the money to Harry and gave the jet back.
This possibility is a more – I would say – logical variation of the previous one. Mrbeast rented the jet, knowing no YouTuber would prefer to own it. After the challenge ended, he gave the money to Harry and gave the jet back.
Do I think Harry Wroetoshaw owns the jet from the Mrbeast Jet Video?
I personally don’t think that harry owns the jet or at least doesn’t own it for his personal use. So I would personally opt for the 3rd and 5th possibilities to be the closest to the truth.
This would be a wise move by harry. The cost to own, operate and maintain a Hawker 850XP private jet is very expensive. The bills can add up quickly.
Liberty Jet did this calculation already. To fly your jet for 200 hours a year; you need at least a yearly budget of a million dollars.
Personally, I think the 3rd and 5th possibilities are the closest to reality.
But of course, the actual truth remains with MrBeast and Harry.
